The "Geek in the Pink" scored one of the biggest songs of the past decade in 2008 with "I'm Yours". Jason Mraz made history when his single became the longest-running song on the Billboard Hot 100 when it charted for 76 weeks. Mraz has been serving up his acoustic blue-eyed soul songs for the better part of the last decade and we hope he releases some new material soon. Although he is currently in the studio working on new material, he has managed to find time to perform for his large fan-base. Jason Mraz tour dates are scheduled periodically throughout 2011.
Jason Mraz grew up in the American heartland of Mechanicsville, Virginia; He ditched the rural America scene for the Big Apple and attended The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC during the mid-nineties. He honed his skills there before leaving the school for the West Coast. Mraz clearly developed a penchant for the surf rock music of Southern California which influenced the singer-songwriter. In So-Cal, Mraz was able to score a recording contract with Elektra Records and he released his debut Waiting For My Rocket to Come in 2003. His debut single "The Remedy", was an instant hit and became a top ten entry on the Adult Contemporary chart. The album also featured the fun track "Curbside Prophet", which highlighted Mraz's rhyming skills.
Jason Mraz tour dates were booked on an intimate club tour throughout 2003 to support the album. Jason Mraz concert dates were also scheduled on the opening stage for Tracy Chapman and Alanis Morisette on the latter's Jagged Little Pill Acoustic Tour. Mraz proved that he could tour with the best of them and he hit the studio to produce his follow-up. Mr. A-Z was released in 2005 and debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200. Mraz was hailed for his rhyming capabilities and his smooth blue-eyed soul vocals. While the album didn't feature any breakout singles, Mraz did garner a Grammy nomination for Best Engineered Album at the 2006 ceremonies. The Jason Mraz concert schedule included a headlining stint on the Mr. A-Z Tour which kept him on the road for the better part of the next two years. Bushwalla and his future fiance, Tristan Prettyman, were the opening acts along the tour. Prettyman would be the inspiration for many of his subsequent songs. Jason Mraz tour dates were also booked on the opening stage for Rolling Stones on their 2006 tour.
In addition to his supporting role for the Stones, Jason Mraz tour dates were booked on tours with Rob Thomas and he played a sold-out club tour. Mraz's cache was about to explode with the release of his third album We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things in 2008. The single "I'm Yours", was the breakout song of the year. It peaked at #1 on the Adult Contemporary charts and on charts around the world, it went on to sell over five million copies and became one of the top selling singles in music history. Mraz was subsequently nominated for Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance at the 51st Grammy Awards in 2009. Mraz went on to share an award with Colbie Caillat for their collaboration "Lucky" which appeared on Mraz's album.
With nearly a decade in the business, Mraz's success was cultivated through his own talents and not manufactured. His lyrics are sincere, fun, and well compliment his acoustic soul vocals. Jason Mraz is currently working on his as-yet-untitled fourth album which he plans to release in 2011. In addition to his upcoming marriage to Prettyman, Jason Mraz tour dates are scheduled periodically throughout the year. Though she's only been on the mainstream music scene for a short time now, Christina Perri is taking the world by storm with her singles "Jar of Hearts" and "Arms." With one EP and one full album out, Perri is embarking on her first headlining tour dates in 2011, which is bound to bring this up-and-coming musician even more acclaim.
As the younger sister of guitarist Nick Perri, Christina taught herself guitar at the age of 16. At the age of 21, Perri moved to Los Angeles and began releasing music videos of her talents on YouTube, but moved back to Philadelphia a year later. There she wrote "Jar of Hearts" shortly before giving LA another chance and working as a waitress. Her friend passed along a copy of the song to a choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance in 2010, and the song's inclusion in the show left audiences wondering who performed it. Less than a month later, Perri had a record deal and released her debut EP, The Ocean Way Sessions, just a few months later. The EP and Perri's 2011 debut album, lovestrong, have received acclaim from a number of critics and the latter has broken into the top 5 of the Billboard 200.
In honor of her steady start to a prosperous music career, Perri has recently begun her first headlining tour dates in 2011. She will be supported by honeyhoney, and while many of the shows are already sold-out, Eventful has plenty of tickets available before her 2011 tour dates end on September 18.
